Phi Lambda Sigma – National Pharmacy Leadership Society (PLS)
Phi Lambda Sigma recognizes leadership qualities of those individuals within the pharmacy profession, especially among pharmacy students. Students are nominated for induction to the Society by their peers based on their involvement and contribution to the profession and school. The organization also promotes the development of leadership qualities and skills within the entire student body and strives to advance the profession as a whole. The society encourages participation in all pharmacy activities. Since leadership crosses fraternal and organizational lines, the Society does not compete with other pharmacy organizations. Phi Lambda Sigma is complementary to Rho Chi in that it honors leadership, while Rho Chi honors scholastic achievement.
The goals of Phi Lambda Sigma are to:
- Motivate and facilitate the acceptance of opportunities (by members) to serve in a leadership role
- Acknowledge leadership achievement and award membership to leaders recommended by the society
- Develop and deliver programs and services to assist those who desire to serve in a leadership role and to sustain leadership commitment
